The Gulf of Thailand offers warm, shallow tropical waters with excellent diving conditions for divers of all experience levels. With an average depth of around 45 meters (148 ft) and year-round water temperatures between 28–30°C (82–86°F), it is one of Southeast Asia’s most enjoyable diving destinations.

The region is renowned for its vibrant coral reefs, impressive granite pinnacles, and fascinating shipwrecks, providing a wide variety of dive sites for beginners, certified divers, and underwater photographers alike. From colorful reef dives to dramatic offshore pinnacles such as Sail Rock, the Gulf of Thailand offers unforgettable underwater adventures and abundant marine life.

Best Time to Dive

Scuba at dive sites Koh Samui is possible all year round. The best underwater visibility is typically from March to September, when sea conditions are calm and visibility is at its highest.

The months of March and April offer the best chance of encountering the majestic whale shark, although sightings can never be guaranteed.

During the northeast monsoon season from November to January, stronger winds may occasionally create rougher sea conditions and reduce underwater visibility. However, diving is still possible on many days, depending on the weather and sea conditions.
