Sail Rock dive site

Sail Rock dive site – Koh Samui

Sail Rock is one of the most famous and highly regarded dive sites in the Gulf of Thailand. Located between the islands of Koh Tao and Koh Phangan, this impressive offshore pinnacle rises from depths of approximately 40 meters (130 ft) to just a few meters below the surface. Its isolated location in the open sea allows nutrient-rich currents to flow around the rock, creating ideal conditions for an abundance of marine life and making it one of Thailand’s top scuba diving destinations.

The dive site features steep rock walls, coral-covered ledges, and narrow crevices that provide shelter for a wide variety of reef fish. Divers regularly encounter large schools of yellowtail barracuda, trevallies, fusiliers, and batfish circling the pinnacle, while angelfish, butterflyfish, groupers, and many other reef species inhabit the coral-covered slopes. One of Sail Rock’s most iconic features is The Chimney—a natural vertical swim-through that begins at around 18 meters (60 ft) and exits at approximately 6 meters (20 ft). Passing through this unique underwater tunnel is an exciting highlight for many divers.
